2020

In 2012, inspired by a friend, I started making a New Year’s fb post of my dog year in review and my goals for the following. Somewhere around 2016 I fell off and stopped doing it. But I decided 2020 was the time to get started again. Thought I’d share the post here as well:

It’s been a few years since I’ve done a dog year recap and goals, but this seems like a good year to get back in the groove. In 2019, Eve started competing in agility and earned both her Novice FAST and JWW titles. She returned to the breed ring a few times and is about 2/3 of the way to her GCH. I ran my first ever Canine Biathalon with her and couldn’t have asked for a better partner and then she earned her ET at the Specialty too. Cali tried to enjoy retirement, which she mostly succeeds at though she gets frustrated if I don’t give her enough time of some sort for training. Torro made his debut in Rally, earning his first leg. In a way, compared to past years that I’ve done this, it was a quiet year. Just starting things all around. 2020 is shaping up to make up for that. For Torro and Cali my main goals are to stay on top of their fitness work (which is a nice training exercise and keeps their minds engaged) and for Torro to finish off his Nov Rally title. Eve’s competition priority this year is my true love (and hers)– agility. I’d like to finish her GCH as well, but agility will take precedence. My goal is for her to be in excellent standard and jumpers by summer, so that I feel like we’re at a point where we’ve built some real understanding and team work before the really big activity planned for this year— puppies! We are planning on breeding Eve in late summer and so she’ll have a sport hiatus for the rest of the year. That’s a lot of big goals for me and my kangaroo, but I can’t imagine a dog I’d rather take it all on with.
